Veterans Day Observance in Redondo Beach 11/11

Event Description

Redondo Beach will observe Veterans Day including reflection with music, commentary and honors to all those members of the armed forces. The event will be held at Veterans Park just south of the Redondo Beach Pier.

The keynote speaker is Brigadier General Philip A. Garrant, Vice Commander, Space & Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base. Music provided by the California National Guards 40th Infantry Division Band,Joint Forces Training Base. Supported by the South Bay Division, Naval Sea Cadets, Boy Scouts and Redondo High USMC JROTC. Hosted by the City of Redondo Beach,Redondo Elks Lodge#1378 and the Redondo Beach Veterans Memorial Task Force.

In addition, Redondo Beach will honor the late Marine Sergeant Chad E. Jensen of Redondo Beach and his family. SGT Jensen, a Mira Costa High School graduate died in a crash of an USMC KC-130J in July.

The service will be followed by a BBQ picnic sponsored by the Redondo Elks. The BBQ is free for all veterans and members of the military. A $5 donation is requested from all others. To RSVP for the BBQ, call the Elks Lodge at 208-473-6626.
