Palos Verdes Performing Arts opens the 2016-17 season with Mel Brooks zany, Broadway hit musical comedy, Young Frankenstein. The production runs through October 9 at the Norris Theatre. The electrifying stage adaptation of Brooks monstrously funny film comes from the creators of the Tony-winning sensation, The Producers. In this reimagining of the famous legend, the grandson of mad scientist Victor Frankenstein inherits his familys estate in Transylvania, and with the help of his hunchbacked side-kick and leggy lab assistant, he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfathers. With wickedly inspired, show-stopping production numbers including “Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” Young Frankenstein is scientifically proven great entertainment. The musical features a 14-piece orchestra, professional cast, and sets and costumes from the national tour of Young Frankenstein. Performance times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, plus 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday October 1 and 8. Ticket prices range from $55-$65, plus a $5 per ticket facility fee. The production is not recommended for children under 13.
