Hermosa Beach 5000 Race is for Everybody

Seriously, competitive “to-pay” races don’t get more democratic than the upcoming, April 20th (420), Hermosa Beach 5000. Walkers, baby-strollers, joggers, skateboarders, novices, experts, and kids of all ages can find a category and age bracket suitable to their bi-pedal skills or four-wheel endeavors. The race claims to be the only 5K event that caters to skateboarders, which should resonate well with the cultural ethos of the South Bay. A skateboarding 5k sounds like an event for the groms but surely there will be some young at heart old dudes pushing away on a heavy duty long-board built for weekend cruises along the strand.

Costs to register for the HB 5000 after April 1st are $40 for 5K Run, BabyJog, or City Walk & $30 for Skateboard 5K, and Kid’s Races. The 3.1 mile course is flat but scenic while the last half mile runs up and down the Hermosa Beach Pier.
