The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy invites the community to join a special Earth Day Celebration & Film Screening on Saturday, April 21. The two-part event will begin with an outdoor volunteer day and a choice of family activities at the White Point Nature Preserve in San Pedro from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and continues later in the day with a FREE screening of the acclaimed documentary JANE [about the life of Jane Goodall] at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro at 5 p.m.
At White Point, wildlife-lovers of all ages will have the opportunity to participate in community planting and
vegetation restoration and enjoy a choice of LA City Ranger guided tour, a nature-based art activity, a composting
workshop and sale of native plants grown at the Conservancy’s nursery. There will also be a chance to meet young
goats, whose voracious appetites help our weed abatement program in an environmentally friendly manner.
Executive Director Andrea Vona says, “Earth Day is a wonderful way to do something locally and join conservationists
around the entire globe in celebrating the important contributions each person can make to protect our precious
natural lands.”
Later in the day at 5 pm, the Conservancy is presenting a FREE screening of JANE at the historic Warner Grand
Theatre in San Pedro. JANE is an award winning National Geographic documentary that follows the work of
conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall and her commitment to protecting chimpanzees and the land they depend upon in
Gombe, Africa. Reservations are highly recommended. Please visit: www.pvplc.org and view on home page.
