South Bay Weekend: Super Bowl Costume Contest, Power Plant, Scottish Music, Saved by the 90s, ESMoA, Globe Skateboard Giveaway, Beer Pairing Dinner & True Tales from the South Bay

Mix together America’s unofficial holiday, the Super Bowl, with a 10K/5k run, a costume contest, prizes and the result is a full and comprehensive Sunday Funday. The 39th Annual Super Bowl 10K/5k Costume Contest presented by the folks at King Harbor Association is practically a pre-race ritual now and this year KHA & Marina Bike Rentals are giving away a bike! If you are planning to show off your creativity with a costume, be sure and register for the contest before the race by 6:45 a.m. at Redondo Beach Marina, 181 N. Harbor Drive.

El Segundo Brewery Day-One Bottle Release – Power Plant: Friday, February 3, 2017 Local hop-minded brewery, El Segundo Brewery, serves up another day-one bottle release this Friday: Power Plant (Triple India Pale Ale). ESBC’s branded nod to its locale will also return to The Bistro IPA Fest in Hayward next weekend, considered by some to be the Super Bowl of IPA festivals. Power Plant bombers will be available throughout the South Bay and beyond at various bottle shops & stores, or pick one up at El Segundo Brewery, 140 Main St, El Segundo, CA 90245.

Nobel The Remix: Poetry Slam Workshop at ESMoA: Saturday, February 4, 2017 – 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM Come enjoy a poetry slam, just for Teens. Inspired by ESMoA’s Experience 25: Brain program, teens will use quotes of Nobel laureate winners to create a poem inspired by the power of the mind. Globe and Keith Shore Skateboard Release Party: Saturday, February 4, 2017 – 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Danish microbrewery, Mikkeller Brewing, will be on draft Saturday afternoon at Select Beer Store in Redondo Beach to help Globe giveaway some skateboards featuring artwork from Keith Shore. Shore is the artist who designs Mikkeller’s beer labels and Globe plans to giveaway some decks complete with trucks and wheels (must be present to win).more info
