Gum TreeWelcome to the Gum Tree in Hermosa Beach, where an authentic beach cities café sits next to a quaint, sophisticated gift store. Located on Pier Avenue, this gorgeous California Bungalow style café & store offers beach-goers and families an Australian influenced breakfast or lunch at down to earth prices. The Gum Tree is truly a labor of love as owners Will Ford, the Chef and Lori Ford the shopkeeper, literally married their passions and in November of 2008 began doing what they know best- fashion and food.

The down-under atmosphere at the Gum Tree Café is carefully crafted on the inside as diners can catch a glimpse of hard to find Australian products like Vegemite and Tim-Tams, while the chance to order an Aussie-style meat pie or sausage roll will keep you coming back for more. On the outside is a breezy patio that seats diners down for a private bite as the views of Hermosa Beach enrich your experience. Behind the counter is a chalkboard menu with Daily Specials, a list of coffee and iced tea drinks, sandwiches, and salads, as well as an assorted breakfast menu with items like fruits, muffins, organic Greek yogurt, and an array of breakfast sandwiches. Lori and Will have made a serious effort to use foods that are locally grown and organic: for example, they often shop the local farmer’s market and the majority of their bread comes from the Bread Bar in El Segundo. Will’s passion for food is exemplified in his hand crafted salad dressings, especially the Champagne Mustard dressing, and his garlic aioli sandwich spread.

The Gum Tree serves breakfast and lunch all day, so whether you’re in the mood for a delicious meal made from scratch or itching to buy a loved one or family member a gift, you must make a visit to one of the South Bay’s finest, The Gum Tree.
