Most Dads are pretty simple and pervade the ever male stance of modesty. Dads tend to shy away from excess shopping or accessorizing and really don’t need many material items to justify their existence. A Lakers jersey, a putter, a nice bottle of wine, some gym socks, and maybe something tech related all make for passable Father’s Day gifts.
Breweries and Dads are synonymous; it’s an ingenious marketing package that combines quality and a do-it-yourself flavor that all Dads identify with. Luckily, breweries and craft beer have officially taken root in the South Bay.
Brouwerij West in San Pedro breaks out another free concert of emerging talent called “Popfuji 2019 #2” for Father’s Day this Sunday, June 16th starting at 1:00 p.m. Live music line-up includes: Otto, XYZPDQ, Chase Petra, Chroma Haze, Pier Pressure, Good Vibe, Behind Schedule and The DropOffs. Los Angeles Ale Works in Hawthorne goes all in with a Father’s Day Carnival this Sunday staring at noon. Dad can enjoy a big beer menu complete with 25 taps and a special, house-made Michelada Bar, and Beer Slushies too (Lime & Strawberry Margarita). Bartz BBQ will feature special items including Wagyu Pastrami Brisket, aged Prime Bone-in Ribeye Steaks, Pastrami Beef Ribs, Wagyu Brisket Pork Belly Burnt Ends and more. Not necessarily a Father’s Day event, the Torrance Beer run does have some dad-like qualities: beer and a free t-shirt. In conjunction with L.A. Beer Week which starts Saturday 6/15, Torrance, known for its expansive craft beer landscape, is hosting a Second Annual Torrance Beer Run. Visit all 11 Torrance breweries, stamp your beer card along the way, then turn in your completed stamp card at HopSaint Brewing Company or Smog City Brewing Company to receive a limited-edition Torrance Beer Run T-shirt. Complete your card with all 11 breweries any time during L.A. Beer Week (6/15 – 6/23). Beer stamp cards will be available for pick-up starting June 15 at all participating breweries. more info
Father’s Day Vinyl Brunch and Archive Bottle Release at Phantom Carriage Brewery in Carson Sunday, June 16. Throw on your favorite jean shorts, hike up your socks and join Phantom Carriage for Father’s Day Brunch Bring your Dad’s favorite (classic) vinyl in to play while enjoying flight specials and a ghoulish brunch menu starting at 11:00 a.m. Archive bottle release is also this Sunday (6/16) noon to 4:00 p.m., stay tuned for bottle release details.
