2012 International Surf Festival: Tuesday, July 31, 2012 - Sunday, August 5, 2012 - 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
Arguably the biggest weekend of the year in the South Bay, the International Surf Festival returns to Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo Beach! An athletic competition involving several events spans 3 days and is non-stop entertainment.
The Festival has events throughout the weekend revolving around the beach and ocean, including a Bodysurfing Championship, Surf Contest, Lifeguard Competition, Sand Soccer, Paddleboard Race and much more. However, the king of the contests is properly known as the Charlie Saikley Volleyball Tournament- or to anybody else, just the 6-Man.On Tuesday, the "6-Man" Volleyball Tournament begins, which is a crazy, ultra-competitive sporting party. Dozens of teams compete over 2 days to take down what is a very honorable title here in the South Bay. Of all the events in the Festival, this is far and away the most popular, with hundreds of players and up to 60,000 spectators.
This year, the main event kicks off with the LA County Lifeguard Championships at 7:00 p.m. at the Manhattan Beach Pier on Friday, August 3. There will be several contests, including the U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter & L.A. County Lifeguard Rescue Demo, 6-Lifeguard Run Relay, Lifeguard Events and the Bud Stevenson Intracrew Medley Relay.
There will be surfing, bodysurfing, sand soccer, paddleboard and swimming races among many other activities as well, and this is one weekend you don't want to miss!! Check out the official site for more info! The official Schedule of Events is as folows:

- 7:30 a.m. Surfing Championships — Manhattan Beach Pier (South Side). Information (310) 614-9996.
- 8:00 a.m. The Torrance Sand Soccer Association is proud to present the 6th Annual Sand Soccer Challenge at Torrance Beach.
- 8:00 a.m. Dick Fitzgerald Two-Mile Beach Run — Hermosa Beach Pier. Information, $20, with T-shirt guaranteed, if registered by July 20.

- 9:00 a.m. California Beach Volleyball - New ISF Event - Hermosa Beach Pier.
- 9:00 a.m. Dwight Crum Pier-To-Pier Swim — Hermosa Pier to Manhattan Pier, no Race Day entries, Contestants must pre-qualify. Information: pier2pier_swim@verizon.net. $40.00 pre-register only.
